National Cup Cake Day, 2008National Cup Cake Day for the RSPCAThanks for all your support on Monday, August 18, 2008

You’re never too old to enjoy a Cup Cake and that theory was proven when THIRTY dozen Cup Cakes sold in just 1 hr and 15 mins at Radio 4GR on the 18th of August.

Weis Restaurant did its bit to get some tails wagging, by making and donating 30 dozen decorated Cup Cakes which were sold during an outside live broadcast with 4GR’s Big Breakfast with Lee & Kim from 7am.

Thanks to the kind generosity of the good citizens of the Darling Downs, by 8.15am they were going...going...GONE!

Single Cup Cakes sold for $2, half a dozen Cup Cakes sold for $12 and a dozen Cup Cakes sold for $20.

All proceeds went to the RSPCA Toowoomba Branch and Weis Restaurant is proud to have been able to help Toowoomba's 2008 National Cup Cake Day generate $700 in much needed funding.

The RSPCA is a non-government community-based charity dedicated to protecting the welfare of all animals – great and small and approximately 3000 animals locally depend on the RSPCA every year.

RSPCA Toowoomba Branch Manager Michael Duncanson was "truly amazed by the generosity of the Darling Downs community".

Sandy Collins, a volunteer at the RSPCA took out the Cup Cake decorating competition against The Mayor Peter Taylor, Weis Restaurant's Executive Chef, Jamie Cuff and Kim Stokes from 4GR’s Big Breakfast.
